Lefteye Flounders from San Salvador

Family Bothidae

Laterally compressed bodies. Fish lie on sides along bottom, with pectoral fin acting as dorsal fin. During maturation, right-eye migrates to left side of body.

Peacock flounder (Bothus lunatus): notch in forehead. Blue rings covering body.

Eyed Flounder (Bothus ocellatus): small adults (4"-5"). Body covered with brown rings.
